The LB76A Anniversary Series 6-string bass was introduced in 1996 to celebrate Carvin's 50th Anniversary. It's based on the popular LB76, but with a host of options included as standard features. The LB76A active bass is built to the highest possible standards with features found only on high-end and boutique basses, without the boutique price. There are hundreds of available options on Carvin's LB76A bass, and because we sell direct to you, you can design a fully-custom USA-made bass at a price that can't be beat. The LB76A is more than just a great playing bass - it's a work of art that you'll be proud to play and own for a lifetime.

3-Piece Alder/Walnut/Flamed Maple Body
|
The LB76A features a 3-piece body and 5-piece maple/walnut neck-through design. The back of the body is alder, the top is highly figured 4A flamed maple, and there is a thin layer of walnut in between. Alder is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of it's relative light weight and and fine resonating tone and upper midrange definition. It's slightly darker in color than maple, which accentuates the LB76A's 5-piece maple/walnut neck. Alder also has a subtle and attractive grain that looks great in any of Carvin's many finishes. The body edges of the LB76A are fully radiused for additional playing comfort. The neck runs the entire length of the instrument, which adds to the sustain and stability of the neck, and allows the LB76A to have a minimal neck heel. You can order your LB76A in any of Carvin's optional translucent finishes, and you can also upgrade your top wood to 4A quilted maple.

Neck-Through Design, Standard 5-Piece Neck
|
The standard 5-piece maple/walnut neck adds to the already great looks of this instrument, and you can choose whether you want the neck to show on the top or not. All of our necks and fingerboards undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. Carvin's dual-action, fully adjustable truss rod helps keep the neck straight and true, and allows you to set the action just the way you like it. The standard headstock is a 3 X 3 design, or you can also choose the Icon style 6-string headstock. The LB76A comes with no headstock overlay, allowing the 5-piece neck to show, but if you prefer, you can order a matching flamed maple headstock overlay, or a quilted maple headstock overlay if you choose a quilted top. A 24K gold plated headstock logo adds just the right touch of class. You can personalize your LB76A with an engraved truss rod cover, adding to the uniqueness of the instrument.
A 34" scale ebony fingerboard with white pearl dot inlays, a 14" radius and 24 medium-jumbo nickel frets is standard. Carvin offers more fingerboard options
than most manufactures offer for their entire bass lines, so you can choose from rosewood, maple or birdseye maple fingerboards; and dot, block or diamond inlays in mother-of-pearl or genuine abalone. Carvin also offers a number of fretwire options, including jumbo, low-wide and stainless steel. For the fretless player, you can choose an unlined ebony fingerboard, or an ebony fingerboard with white inlaid lines and with or without dot position markers. All fretless necks have small position markers on the side of the fingerboard. Carvin's "Rapid Play" low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret.

Hipshot A-Style Bridge
|
A Hipshotâ„¢ A-style bridge with strings fed through the body is standard. Carvin has used an assortment of bridges throughout the years, and we've found the Hipshot to be one of the best available. This bridge provides deep punch and definition, and has individual side-to-side string adjustment which allows you to custom-tailor the playability of your bass. The Hipshot bridge allows you feed the strings through the body (standard), or top load the strings. The LB76A comes equipped with medium-light roundwound strings, and you can also choose flatwounds or medium-light stainless steel strings. Tuners are Carvin premium with an extra-fine 20:1 ratio, and are silky smooth and durable. Standard hardware is chrome, and you can upgrade to gold or black.
Standard electronics on the LB76A consist of a pair of Carvin J9A alnico single coils with our 18V active/passive electronics module. Controls consist of
volume, pickup blend, stacked concentric bass and high frequency, stacked concentric mid frequency and sweep. The new J9A pickups are our best "all around" pickups, and are suited for any style of music. Optional SP Series soapbar humbuckers provide additional mid-range punch and top-end definition with a deep, smooth bass response, while our HB Series humbuckers provide a fat, monstrous tone with excellent top-end clarity. For the ultimate in tone, you can add the P Series
upgrade, which incorporates a Hipshot piezo bridge, individual amplifiers and trim pots for each string, and a blend control to blend the piezo with the soapbar pickups. The P Series upgrade creates a warm acoustic tone which enables your LB76A to emulate an acoustic upright bass, and works in conjunction with any of our bass pickups.
The LB76A is also offered in a Claro walnut model, the LB76W, which has all the features of the LB76A, but with a fully rounded 3-piece walnut body/highly figured Claro walnut top and 5-piece neck standard. If you want to select different woods or finishes, you can build an LB76, which is constructed using the same skill and precision as the LB76W and LB76A, but without the 3-piece body and standard 5-piece neck. All 3 of our LB76 models represent the ultimate in looks, sound and playability.
