Carvin at Bass Player Live! |
Carvin was well represented at Bass Player Magazine's Bass Player Live! event held November 1st & 2nd at SIR Studios in Hollywood. Carvin attended the event with an assortment of Icon, LB, and BB bass models along with the new BR Neo cabinets in a few assorted colors. Of course the BX1200 and B1500 head were providing the power along with a few BRX cabinets.
Some of the best bass players in the industry attended the event, such as Hadrien Feraud, Mike Elizondo, Nathan East, Rickey Minor, Verdine White, Stanley Clarke, Jeff Berlin, Steve Bailey, Phil Chen, Marco Mendoza, and our very own Bunny Brunel. Bunny performed with his newly reformed BB Signature Model at the booth on Saturday and also was part of the All Star Jam session at the Key Club later that evening. On Sunday, Bunny and Hedrien Feraud jammed together at the Carvin booth, which drew a large crowd of onlookers besides other well known artists.
Carvin held a giveaway for a BR615N combo bass amp. The winner, Anthony Dais from Bowie Maryland, was drawn on Sunday. Congratulations!
Thanks to Bass Player Magazine for hosting an outstanding event geared towards bassists exclusively. And, of course, thanks to Bunny Brunel, and all the bass players and fans that stopped by the Carvin booth!

Carvin Kit Contest Winner Selected! |
The winner of Carvin's first "Show Us Your Kit" contest has been selected. The winner was chosen based on votes from the Carvin BBS community, as well as by votes from staff at the Carvin Custom Shop.
This year's winner is Art DeMone, with his Carvin Bolt kit, finished in Dragonburst on swamp ash. Art says:
"Building this guitar was a blast. My son, Mason, wasn't too sure that it would be any good since it wasn't very expensive. After I finished it though, he thought I should give it to him since he was a better guitar player. We'll that may be true but I didn't have an electric guitar and wanted to keep it. I couldn't believe that I made it to the finals let alone won the contest. Compared to a lot of the guitars I saw in the builders forum, I just wasn't sure how mine would rank. I'm using the prize money to order another kit. This time, a bolt plus in walnut. My son thinks I should use the prize to order him a guitar. Nah, he can just have the first one. Carvin probably doesn't want me to say this but you don't really need a whole lot of skill to finish one of their kits and you will save a lot of money. Finishing materials are easy to find depending on how fancy you want to go. Just don't get too impatient. The best part is you can say you built it yourself. Your friends will be awestruck!"
Art was awarded a $750 Carvin gift certificate, which he has already used to invest in another kit. Can't wait to see what his next project looks like!
Congratulations to Art, and thanks to all the people who entered the contest. We saw some amazing kits, and it was hard to pick just one winner. And, or course, we'll be doing it again next year - so, check out Carvin's selection of complete guitar and bass kits, and start building your own masterpiece today!
