New From Carvin! SB4000 Bass |
Carvin is very excited to debut our newest bass model, the SB4000. Designed in conjunction with noted bassist Sekou Bunch, the SB4000 represents a significant departure from our other bolt-neck basses. The SB4000 has a vintage vibe, with a completely new body and headstock design, and other options that make this model an instant retro classic.
Standard pickups are Carvin's all-new H50A alnico stacked humbucker pickups, available in black (standard) or cream (read more below). Passive electronics are standard, or you can upgrade to active electronics.
Other features include an alder body with jazz-style hard rock maple neck, new neck heel design which allows easy access up to the 20th fret, newly designed bridge with lock-down saddles, optional ivory Graph Tech TUSQ nut, optional inlaid knobs and much more.
A 5-string model, the SB5000, will be coming to Carvin.com soon. You can pre-order the SB5000 now by calling Carvin sales at (800) 854-2235.
Current build time for the SB4000 is 6 - 8 weeks.

Update on the BX500 Bass Head from the Director of National Sales |
My name is Jeff Kiesel and I am the Director of National Sales for Carvin. This post is to clear up all posts concerning the new BX500 bass head.
First off I would like to say that I believe we have the best customer service staff in our industry and these guys are musicians and they do care about helping our customers. I have seen the posts on the internet that slam us, Bart (in Customer Service) in particular but I can tell you he is only giving you the information he has. Bart is a great guy and does an amazing job here and I believe he is the best customer service manager we have had in my 14 years here.
Here is where the problem starts. We have been told over and over different shipping dates, and trust me I get very frustrated as well and completely understand where those of you that have ordered them and have not received them yet are coming from. I was assured this product would be shipping Feb 1st and the CEO told me it was up to me to put this product in the catalog and online for sale. With the catalog coming out Jan 5th and products shipping by Feb 1st I thought it would be ok. Well we missed our Feb 1st roll out. I can tell you right now if I am asked the same thing in the future my response will be "we will wait till they are in stock and ready to ship BEFORE the are put online or in a catalog."
As a company it is hard to wait to release a new cutting edge product till it is on the shelves. There are many things that come into play when launching a new product and there are two main reasons we launched it before they were on the shelves ready to ship.
#1 The NAMM show, if you bring a new product to NAMM you may as well put it online and in the catalog cause you are going to get a bunch of calls.
#2 The catalog mailing dates, with only mailing out 4 catalogs per year it means if you miss one you are waiting 3 months for the next one.
I can assure you that we strive the build top notch reliable gear at an unbelievable price. Most of the hold up with dates are due to the fact that we want to make sure we ship out a product that we are proud of and meets our specs. The first units that went out had some complaints about being noisy and we have addressed the problem and fixed it. The units that are noisy are serial number OD04950 and lower. If you have one of those units please call Bart at 800 854 2235 ext 171 and he will send out a UPS call tag, pick up the unit and we will make the modification and 3 day UPS it back out to you. The modification involves several component changes and that main thing it does is lower the gain PRE EQ to lower the RF noise (this will not affect the overall output of the amp).
I had a meeting with the production manager a few minutes ago. He assured me all BX500 units ordered before 3/4/09 will be shipped out by Monday 3/9/09. In fact we shipped out 10 today and will be shipping 10 more tomorrow. Please do not call to see if your unit shipped out. Below is a list by last name of units that shipped out today.
Wegge
Poellnitz
Parker
Teele
Anderson
Wille
Hom
Bybee
Essex
Delturco
We will be shipping ten more tomorrow I will post the last names of the units that ship tomorrow. Please do not call in and see if your unit shipped out, check back on here and look at the list.
I am very sorry for the headache and frustration you have gone through but I can tell you this, the BX500 is amazing and you will be completely satisfied once you play it.
Sincerely,
Jeff Kiesel
Director of National Sales
